PADS Volunteers and Items needed for Des Plaines Site

PADS Homeless Shelter in Des Plaines is in need of volunteers for the 2018-19 season. PADS meets at St. Mary Church in Des Plaines on Friday nights October - April. Volunteers may sign up for one or more of the following shifts: 

  • Set-Up/First Shift (Friday 5:45 p.m. - 11 p.m.) 
  • Overnight (11 p.m. - Saturday, 3 a.m.) 
  • and 3rd Shift (Saturday 3 a.m. - 7 a.m.) 

A one time mandatory orientation for new PADS volunteers is conducted at The Journeys Office in Palatine. Click here for info on the training schedule.

Joy of Giving - Sunday, Dec. 16: Collection Day

Joy of Giving partners with local outreach partners to bless those in the surrounding communities and this year we are collecting specific items for World Relief! Sign up to purchase an item listed below by contacting Lilly Staar and then bring it to church with you by Dec. 16. We will also have fleece material available again to make a blanket. Family Ministry Winter Camp Registrations Now Open!

Iron Men Kickoff - Jan. 12, 7-8:30 a.m., MPR

Join us for our Iron Men January Kickoff event. We will be joined by special guest speaker, Pastor Erwin Lutzer. Pastor Lutzer was pastor of The Moody Church for 36 years, author of many books, and is the featured speaker on three national radio shows. He will be speaking about 5 battles every man must face. Free breakfast included.


Women’s THRIVE New Series “Breathe: Making Room for Sabbath” - Begins Jan. 17/18

Learn to Breathe and make room for resting in the Lord through the teaching of Priscilla Shirer and by engaging in the weekly study materials. Breathe begins Thursday, January 17 at 7 p.m. or Friday, January 18 at 9:15 a.m. Childcare will be provided in the morning!
Register on the app, online or at the Welcome Center beginning Sunday, December 16. Cost is $10. Study guides will be available to pick up at the Welcome Center.
